The Rest of the Squad Willie Gildea Born Broxburn, near Falkirk in 1888. A centre half, he joined City from Falkirk in February 1911. Willie Spent an unhappy seven months at Valley Parade, making only ten appearances – three of which were in the Cup run. He was dropped for the Cup Final replay, which only intensified his disquiet. Not surprisingly, he was the first of the Cup winning squad to leave when he joined Birmingham City in September 1911. He went onto Belfast Celtic before retiring from football. Willie died at Edinburgh in 1949
Harry Hampton Irish left half, he joined City from Dundee in March 1910. Harry had much success with Aston Villa where he had already won the FA Cup. However, he never really rediscovered the form he had shown at Villa Park. That said, Harry is still the clubs most capped player, whilst at Valley Parade he made nine appearances for Ireland. In the Cup run Harry played in the second round against Norwich City. He turned out 50 times for the Paraders before joining Belfast Distillery in May 1914.
James Blair Dumfries born half back. James began his career at Maxwell Town Volunteers and came to Valley Parade in May 1910 via Kilmarnock and Manchester City. James played in only the first round at New Brompton (now Gillingham). He made 42 appearances for City, scoring 4 goals before joining Stockport County in August 1912. He retired from County and returned home to Dumfries. On 26 March 1913 he committed suicide when he cut his own throat in the family toilet.
Henry Peart Born Newcastle 1889, a centre half, he joined City from Glasgow Strathside in June 1909. Henry played in the second round against Norwich City. He made only 14 appearances for the Paraders before making the short journey to Leeds City in September 1913
George Chaplin Another Scot, born Dundee in 27 September 1888. A hugely popular right back, he joined City in October 1908 from Dundee. George made 97 appearances for the Paraders. He played in the first and second rounds of the Cup run, before a bout of TB forced a lengthy absence from the game. George guested for Hull City during World War One, after the conflict he joined Coventry City in May 1919. He died on 14 May 1963.
